E-Mail
As a classroom teacher, you will enjoy the ability to communicate with
your colleagues. Whether they are across the hall or across the globe,
you can easily share ideas, methods, lessons, successes, and challenges.
Here at ASU, as well as many other places, we use an email system known
as PINE. When you signed up for your UserID and Password to access computers
across campus, you were also given an email account. Your UserID and Password
are the same for both.
You can access your email account from any computer here on campus that
has Internet access. You can also access your email account from home via
a computer and modem through your regular phone line.
-
Consult the ASU Information
Technology FYI Page for information on home access to Email and the
Internet.
-
You may also want to check out ASU's
Jukebox Page to find some great links to free software, tutorials and
informational links.
-
You may want to download your own copy of Eudora
- an easy to use E-mail program for both the PC and the Macintosh.
To access your Pine Email account from campus, first log onto a
computer at one of the computing sites. Open up the "server" to gain access
to the software that will connect you to ASU's General Server.
Next -- open the Pine/Email folder.
Double click on This
will launch the software that will connect you to the UNIX computer known
as "General 1".
You now need to use your UserID and Password to log onto the "General
1" UNIX computer.
You may also use the "short cut" to get to the ASU General Server.
Just click on the envelope in the upper right corner of any of
the E-Mail Module Pages.
