Listservs

A "listserv" is an automatic electronic mailing system. Any messages sent to the "listserv" are automatically forwarded to all of the "subscribers." This is a way for you to send one message to many people at once.

Generally, listservs are reserved for messaging on a specific topic. For example, a listserv might be developed for all those interested in Special Education. Perhaps one might be set up for Bilingual Educators.  There are thousands of lists on any topic you can think of.  We encourage you to look through our list and pick a few to check out.

You may want to check out the Tile.Net for a list of every imaginable listserv topic.

Also visit Pitsco's list of lists and Liszt's search page for listservs.

Communication Module Assignment...

...Subscribing to EMCHELP

We have set up a listserv for this class. It will help us organize and strengthen communication between all who are involved with this class.

As part of the course requirements, you will be "subscribing" to this list. Any messages sent to it will then be forwarded to you. We would like you to use it for any communication between your groups as well as any communication between students and instructors.

We will also be using it for sending you any information regarding assignments, tests, or other course housekeeping.

To become an "EMCHELP" subscriber, you must send a message to the listserv computer.

Make sure you send it to...
listserv@asu.edu
Use the red text as a model to help you subscribe.

Because you are sending it to a computer, you need to follow the instructions carefully. Do not add anything in the message area other than the subscribe instructions, as it will confuse the computer.

You will receive a confirmation message letting you know if you subscribed successfully.

Once you've subscribed, you may want to send messages to the list. This message will then be forwarded to all of the subscribers -- including yourself.

This is our way of communicating to everyone.

To use the listserv and send a message to all subscribers, make sure you send it to...

emchelp@asu.edu
Notice -- this is a different address than the one you subscribed to.
