FIRSTCLASS® CONFERENCING SYSTEM


    This course will be held as a seminar with both face-to-face meetings and online computer conferences. To facilitate online conferencing, we will use FirstClass® Intranet by SoftArc Inc. You must install the FirstClass® Intranet Client software on your computer. The software will be available on diskette for those unable to download it.

    First, choose your operating system, Mac or Windows.

    • FirstClass® Intranet Client 5.1 for Mac OS This is the software required to connect to the FirstClass® Intranet Servers by way of a modem or network connection. This installer will automatically install the appropriate FirstClass® Intranet Client for either PowerPC or 68K based Macs on any Macintosh with at least 4 MB of memory. Copyright 1996 SoftArc Inc.

    • FirstClass® Intranet Client 5.1 for Windows The FirstClass® Intranet Client is the graphical front-end Windows software required to connect via network or modem to FirstClass® Intranet Servers. The FirstClass® Intranet Client installer will automatically install the appropriate FirstClass® Intranet Client for Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95 or Windows NT on any machine with at least 4 MB of memory.     Install/Start

    Download the readme files with the client software and follow the instructions for installation on your machine. After installing the client software double click on the FirstClass® Intranet Client Icon.

    After double clicking on the icon a blank FirstClass® page will appear with menu labels appearing across the top. Select File>Open Settings and the following window will appear.

    Select Network.fc and click on the open button. The login window will appear.

    Click on the settings button and the Service Setup window will appear.

    Select the pull down window and select connect via "FCP-IP.FCP"
    Then fill in the Server ip address 129.219.12.10

    Now select the Setup button in the top right corner. The TCP-IP setup window will appear.

    Select the advanced settings button and the settings window will appear.

    On the settings window select the TCP Port in the upper right corner and make sure it is changed to 3000. Now select save on this window and save on the next window and finally save on the initial settings window. This will return you to the login window.

    Now enter your user id number and your password and click on the Login button and you will be in FirstClass after the server connects you and automatically opens your desktop.
